Front page editorializing #1
"Hugh Finn is finally free to die in peace." Louisville Courier-Journal reporter Camille Diana Barbee, forgetting what she was taught in Journalism 101 about not editorializing in a news story, announcing her view in the lead sentence of her Oct. 3 page one news coverage of the fight to keep former TV reporter Hugh Finn alive despite his "persistent vegetative state." Headlined "Virginia bid to keep Finn alive is rejected," Barbee's own story quotes a number of protesters whose statements indicate they didn't believe Finn would die "in peace" after having been taken off food and water.
