Metro Sweep Campaign for Full Access Let's "Do a Sweep!" and make our city's shops and restaurants accessible

OUR MAR. 23 WORKSHOP IS FULL! WATCH THIS SITE FOR A REPORT!

January 26 was the 10th anniversary of the access requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act. On that day in 1992, all places of public accommodation -- restaurants, bars, movie theaters, and many other places -- were supposed to become accessible to people with disabilities.

That hasn't happened, has it? Ten years later, people who use wheelchairs are still waiting for many Louisville restaurants to ramp their entrances!!

Because of this, Ragged Edge magazine is hosting a one-day workshop March 23 on conducting a "Sweep" campaign. The workshop will be conducted by disability advocates from Harrisburg, PA, who designed and carried out a successful "Sweep" making many businesses in Harrisburg accessible to wheelchair users. The program has been highly effective in other communities as well.
