Culture Chasm

Reporters are uncomfortable talking to sources with serious disabilities. At ADAPT actions, the reporters always look for someone who looks nondisabled to talk to. Anyone who's disabled is an "advocate" and thus we're suspect: we have an "agenda," we won't be unbiased. They're uncomfortable talking to us. They want to find an expert to talk about us with.

Our issues are poverty issues. Reporters are uncomfortable talking about those in a real-life way. They want it sanitized.
