Lock 'em up, #1
"Disability pay ought to be reserved for those who are physically disabled--not those whose mental instability merely limits their employment options. Individuals truly disabled by mental illness should be in institutions." Editorial in the August 10 Richmond (Va.) Times Dispatch. "If Congress wants to do something meaningful in the wake of the Capitol shootings," the bigoted writer continued, it should "stop enabling the lunatic lifestyle" and cut off disability benefits to "lunatics."

Lock 'em up, #2
"We're not a health facility; we're a private home." Oceancrest condo board member Clark Dowling, complaining about Dorian Couturier. Added board member James Walden, "Because he's in a wheelchair doesn't give him the right to break the rules."

The family of 12-year-old Couturier was refused a permanent unit in the complex because it had "complaints about Dorian from owners" that he "uses the whirlpool spa for relief" from his muscular dystrophy "although the spa is off-limits to anyone younger than 14." The July 20 Associated Press story also reported that "Dorian also has been labeled mischievous because he has run his motorized wheelchair over lawn sprinklers and scratched walls with the chair."
