Inspirational soup
""The purpose of the 'feel good' book is to bring a tear to the eye, a lump to the throat or leave the reader with food for thought. The book will elicit an emotional response because it is the nature of the human spirit to continue in the face of adversity and insurmountable odds. The sharing of such stories, especially from those with disabilities, has a tremendous healing capability and overpowering affect on both the heart and the mind." E-mail message soliciting more inspirational stories from crips for the upcoming "Chicken Soup for the Soul" book -- "By, For and About People with Disabilities" -- due out either in time for Christmas or in early 1999 (See "Chicken Soup is Pabulum," November/December, 1997.). A second version of the schlock is planned, too: "We are still looking for true stories about people with all kinds of disabilities whether hidden or visible and how they have overcome staggering odds to succeed."

Each contributor will have a short biography in the back of the book, but won't get any money from the sales of the "Chicken Soup" multi-million dollar publishing phenomenon: "We do not pay royalties or permission fees," says the Chicken Soup firm.
