Group Decries Treatment of Albinism in 'Da Vinci'

"Albinos are bothered that one of their own has yet again been depicted as a villain," says an AP story out yesterday.

Michael McGowan, an albino who heads the National Organization for Albinism, told the media that "The Da Vinci Code will be the 68th movie since 1960 to feature an evil albino."

This Dan Brown guy is just having a field day ticking off the whole word, isn't he?

I find it very ignorant that a person writing an article on the subject of Albinism still does not understand proper word usage in 2006! I know of no "albino's" just as I know of no "niggers". People are not their disability. A person with A person with Albinism is referred as such, not as an ALBINO! We would not consider grouping others by demeaning slang words why do you suppose it is ok for a person with albinism to be called an ALBINO? It is no wonder the world casts people into roles they know nothing about. Sometimes I think we have not moved too far past the dark ages.

A concerned parent.
