State Orders Investigation at Oakwood

SOMERSET, Ky. - The Communities at Oakwood, the state's largest center for mentally retarded adults, has been cited again for endangering residents' safety following an incident in which one resident swallowed latex gloves and had to undergo surgery.

Mark D. Birdwhistell, secretary of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services, asked for an investigation after Oakwood was cited for the 17th time in 16 months.
