Amy Robertson did a good job on trying to scare anyone away from filing Pro Se. I also think she did us a real disservice. Rather than helping us with additional points of law, she tried to convince us not to even try to file ourselves.
Obviously, she has no idea about the average income of a disabled person. I earn nothing. I live off of the grace of my husband. Should he leave me, I would have no income and no insurance. Social Security provides barely enough for living from what I've heard-certainly not enough for attorneys. The threats of how much a suit can cost us means nothing. We can't afford it. Even filing fees are a push. If we can't do it for ourselves, we can't do it. I have a Master's degree and I would rather try something myself and win than pay someone else to do it. Having a Master's degree sure hasn't given me an income! So if I'm to fight something, it will have to be Pro Se and not with an attorney that tries to scare people into using her services.
